Where to eat in El Gouna

Pier 88

Located in Abu Tig Marina, open only for dinner. It’s safe to say Pier 88 is the best restaurant in El Gouna. It’s usually fully booked especially during peak season (New years & Egyptian national holidays). The atmosphere is extremely fun, usually groups continue drinking after dinner and the music gets a bit louder. The staff is also very entertaining once the kitchen is closed.

Recommended dishes:

  • Beef Carpaccio
  • Tomato Salad
  • Caprese
  • Shrimp Gambas
  • Australian beef with mushroom sauce
  • Penne with meat and mushrooms
  • Shrimp pasta
  • Blue risotto
  • Spicy Fries

Chez Chantal

(Cash only). Another excellent restaurant, located in Abu Tig Marina and only open for dinner. Blackboard menu which usually indicates fresh ingredients! These dishes are usually included and recommended:

  • Seafood Carpaccio
  • Lobster
  • Filet

Zia Amelia

Located in Kafr El Gouna, owned by Italians. Very good pizzas made in a wood oven – Quality has become inconsistent.

Fish Market

If you’re going out to sea, this is the perfect place to order food from to takeaway. You can also sit there but I prefer take-out. It’s open for lunch & dinner. I recommend:

  • Fried Calamari
  • Brown rice
  • Grilled Shrimps
  • Grilled Sea bass

Mahmya

Although this isn’t located in El Gouna, locals often go to Mahmya Island by boat. It can take from 40mins – 1 hour depending on the boat you are on (Drop me a DM on instagram if you’d like to rent a boat). Even though an hour may sound too long, it’s really worth the trip. The Island has a fully functional restaurant and the bar only serves beer and wine. It’s recommended you bring your own bottles and pay corkage, as for the food I recommend the following:

  • Fried Calamari
  • Fried Fish
  • Sea Food Brown Rice (does not actually contain seafood it’s just the name of the type of rice & it can be spotted at the top of the last pic)
  • Pizza (nothing special it’s just a good alternative for people that don’t like fish)
  • Grilled Fish
  • Lemon Shrimps
  • Calamari and Fish tagine served in a clay pot
  • Tahini Salad
