One of Cuba’s most famous towns, and home to one of the world’s UNESCO heritage sites, Trinidad is a favourite for many.
Very cute space, the wine by the glass both red and wine were good. I’d recommend ordering the fried cheese balls, pizza banana chips and pasta. I wouldn’t recommend any of the seafood.
Recommended by a reliable source but I didn’t get the chance to try it.
Visit the famous Square, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Go there in the morning or at night for live music and people dancing at night.
Walk around the different shops and buy some souvenirs.
Stop for a piña colada near the square (Plaza Mayor).
A short car ride away (Maikel will take you) to the Valley de los Ingenios. There’s an observation deck with a beautiful view of the sugar cane valley. You must also go to the Iznaga tower and climb all the way to the top. This where the owner of the sugar cane valley would watch his slaves and the bell of the tower would indicate the start and end of the slaves’ working day. The owners house has been transformed into a restaurant, although we didn’t eat there we enjoyed a refreshing-sweet lemonade.
I didn’t stay there but it was recommended by a reliable source. It’s a Cuban casa, nothing fancy – very simple but it’s a clean place and the people are very hospitable. Apparently they serve great grilled fresh fish for dinner and nice breakfasts. Click here to visit their website
